| Burned and Overheated
Connections...It's usually NOT the spa! (just the
connection itself) |

Okay, well, one look at this pull-out style disconnect and you'd
automatically think the spa has a problem, but it does NOT. This problem was
caused by loose connections at the spa disconnect itself!
It ONLY TAKES a good flat-head
screwdriver to make these things right, as well as a little bit of leverage, to
prevent this from happening. |
|
Take a close look at the left side connections of this box junction,
and the insulation surrouding plastic. It's quite melted, and the entire box
needs to be replaced. Too much oxidation has occured, which means molecular
destruction of the conductive metal has occured.
If I were to simply re-attach the
wires and tighten them down, it will only get worse after such catastrophic
damage has been done to it. Take my word for it: $25.00 for a new disconnect
box is much cheaper than a burned-down house! |
|
Additionally, the wires themselves are heat damaged and MUST BE CUT
BACK!
Simply re-attaching them will NOT
WORK, and will continue to generate heat. So, if you replace the box, then you
MUST cut back the power lines to a point to where they are not discolored, and
then re-attach them to the mounting blocks. |
