This is what I call a 40 amp mistake. This pump
motor seized up, drew too much current, got the windings too hot, the built in shut off failed, and
then the windings caught on fire. The main circuit breaker was 60 amps, about 40 to 45 amps
too much for this size of pump motor!
Another hot spot in the conduit... these wires over
heated a little bit don't you think?
Back of the pump motor seems to be intact..
However, the L2 connection eventually burned in half here..
This is really amazing. You think things like
this won't happen to you... The people living in this home were very lucky that they found
the fire before it got to the house... and they were RENTERS! Now, think twice about
this... Want to try a what if? Hmmm... like what if it was 2:00am when this happened,
and not 10:00pm? Check your installation folks!
